Privacy policy and terms

Text messages

Start: Check the text-updates box on a form on this site ("Get text updates", or "Text me the results" on the poll) and give us your cell number. The box is never checked for you.

Stop: Reply STOP to any text from us.

We also text registered voters. Reply STOP to any of our texts and we stop.

Email

Start: Give us your email address on a form on this site. We add it to our campaign email list. Our site may also send you an automatic email about what you signed up for, such as a Street Team welcome.

Stop: Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any campaign email, or write to vote@chrisgettyforcongress.com.

Phone calls, mail, and door knocks

We reach registered voters using the public voter file. You do not sign up for this.

Stop: Tell the volunteer or write to vote@chrisgettyforcongress.com. Either way, we will add you to our do-not-contact list.

What each part of this site keeps

Get Involved (the home page and /join)

Your name, cell, email if you add one, which boxes you checked, and your address if you ask for a yard sign. With your signup we also record your IP address, your browser details, and the exact wording you agreed to, as the record of your consent.

The 30-Second Poll (/listen)

Your picks, anything you type in a write-in box, your language, your browser details, and the link you came from. No name and no phone number unless you go on to the second step. If you do, we keep your name and contact details, and if you sign up for texts, your IP address as the record of your consent.

Event RSVP pages (such as /rsvp/2026-10-06)

Your name, cell, email if you add one, how many people you are bringing, the issues you picked and anything you typed, whether you asked for updates, your browser details, and the link you came from.

Suburb and Ward pages (/berwyn, /ward-12, and the others)

Nothing from you. We count each visit, with the browser and device type and a random visit number. No IP address.

Early voting, Invite a friend, and the district map

These pages send us nothing but a page view count.

The "Do I live in the Illinois 4th District?" box (the home page, the Suburb and Ward pages, and Early voting)

Nothing. The address you type goes to Google to suggest matches, not to us. Your browser then checks that address's map location against the district line on its own. We do not receive or keep the address or the answer.

What happens after you submit

• If you sign up for texts or RSVP, we look up your phone number or email in our voter file, so we know whether you are a registered voter in the district.
• If you give an address, we use its map location to check whether you live in the Illinois 4th.
• If you give us an email address, we add it to our campaign email list.
• If you ask to join the Street Team or ask for a yard sign, your name, contact details, and address go to our Street Team lead and into our volunteer database.
• To stop repeated automated submissions, we keep a scrambled form of your IP address and delete it after about an hour. This is separate from the IP address kept as your consent record.

Who helps us handle your information

Cloudflare checks that a form is sent by a person. Google suggests addresses as you type in an address box, on our forms and in the "Do I live in the Illinois 4th District?" box, so what you type goes to Google. The /listen video plays from YouTube.

What we never do

We never sell your information or give it to a political machine.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. Your browser keeps a few short notes for us and throws them away when you close the tab. Cloudflare, Google, and YouTube may store their own data when their parts of the page run.

Children

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Donations

Our contribution pages are on Numero and DonorBox, separate sites where your card is processed.

Federal law requires us to use our best efforts to collect the name, mailing address, occupation, and employer of anyone who gives more than $200 in an election cycle. It also requires us to report those details to the Federal Election Commission, which makes them public at fec.gov (opens in a new tab).

A contribution must be your own money, not given in someone else's name, and not from a foreign national.

Your choice

You never have to get texts to answer the poll.

Your number

Mobile information and text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, affiliates, or partners for marketing or promotional purposes. The service that sends our texts uses your number only to deliver them for us.

This campaign runs on trust, so we will be plain about how we use artificial intelligence. We use it to reach more neighbors, move faster with a small team, and stay in touch with this district. We never use it to deceive you.

Our approach

AI is a tool, not a substitute for judgment. A person on our team reviews and approves everything we publish, and the campaign stands behind all of it.

What we never do with AI

We will never:

• Create synthetic images, audio, or video of a real person and present them as real.
• Put words, quotes, or endorsements into anyone's mouth.
• Fabricate news, polls, results, or records.
• Mislead anyone about how, when, or where to vote.

Our fight is with a broken political system, not with people, and never with our neighbors. That holds for how we use technology too.

We are responsible for everything we publish, whatever tool helped make it. Questions go to vote@chrisgettyforcongress.com, and a person will answer.

This site includes Google Maps content: the address boxes on our forms and in the "Do I live in the Illinois 4th District?" box suggest addresses from Google Maps. Using it means you also agree to the Google Maps and Google Earth Additional Terms of Service (opens in a new tab), and Google handles what you type under the Google Privacy Policy (opens in a new tab).
